COME SIT ON MY PORCH

In Florida it's a must to have a screened porch unless you don't mind mosquito bites. Sadly, we don't enjoy ours much as it's too darn hot most of the year to sit on it. But, I still like it to look inviting and cozy...

I don't put anything out there that can't stand up to rain, humidity and cat hair. Yes, we have a nearly 19~year old cat who lives on the screen porch year round. It's her domain if you will...

On the porch you'll find an old metal glider, a beautiful twig chair that I have owned for many years, my great~grandmother's old primitive wash stand, and two of my fav finds~~a round victorian wire plant stand and a large wire aviary that I bought in Texas from Tim Bolton of Homestead. Sprinkled about are chippy architectural pieces, birdcages and birdhouses, urns filled with shells and a zinc obelisk.

I hand~painted the floor to look like stone. When we hang out there I toss some old ticking pillows on the glider and chairs for comfort. Candles set the mood and jazz softly plays in the background...

Sit down and join me, will you?

Don't mind if I do...oh how hard it would be to look out there everyday and not be able to enjoy it. It is too lovely for words. Darn this heat!

I don't blame your kitty - I'd claim it too! Where do I start? The painted floor is a great touch, the glider is a dream find, the pillows are perfect and all of the special touches are charming. I love the whole look of it. It's exactly what I would want mine to look like! Jen-SheEndeavors

It certainly looks inviting and filled with lovely delicious looking treasures!! I do know what you mean though, as I am here at my parents home in Florida and it is surely HOT! Well, it seems that I am always either too hot or too cold...
Regardless of the heat...have a great Sunday!

We would love to move to Florida especially after last month when we got to spend alot of the month in Miami on the beach and visited the Keys. We are in Texas and I really really do like like the heat but I kept saying, while we were in Florida, that it would be okay because we would be by the water.
Your porch is beautiful !

Seriously Shelley...I am going to find you and your doors had better be locked up tight, cause I have mentally made a list of all the things I can get into the back of my truck from this amazing porch. The cat just can't appreciate it the way I can. The iron fencing around the room is sooo beautiful. Okay, I may need a little help loading the awesome bench and glider, but I can get the rest on my own. Better yet, I could just move into the porch and save us both a lot of grief.
Of course kitty will make the rules...but I can live with that.
It is a gorgeous space!!!
hugs
