Sorry if you are missing the music from my playlist, but I have decided to delete this feature from my blog after a frantic incident tonight while adding to my playlist. Be warned, this could happen to you...
I have very good anti-virus software on my computer. In fact I just renewed it one month ago today. Tonight, after adding some new songs to my playlist my computer went crazy and I had all these warnings pop up that my computer was infected with viruses, trojans, spyware and adware. The pop-ups wanted me to run software to clean my computer. DO NOT DO IT.
I called McAfee and after an hour on the phone with a techie that almost cost me another $89.95 found out I had NO virus. It was a trick to get my info and access to my computer. This came from a downloaded song site and I decided it wasn't worth the chance. I deleted my playlist and my account on playlist as well. Maybe an over~reaction but oh well.
And so now you'll get the sounds of silence... Or you could hum.

Wow, thanks for the warning. I don't have music on my blog tho. I'm afraid most people wouldn't like my playlist....I actually appreciate the silence when blogging. Good thing you didn't get a virus after all.
Oh My ..I can imagine your fear when that happened ..Please Note ..that I have had this happen several times by just googling something of interest and clicking on a site ..the site has it attatched to it and once you open the site it also opens the same pop up saying you have issues ..so it is not just playlist it happens with. Luckily I knew what it was and knew not to do anything ...If I hadn't I would have also panicked ...So glad you were smart enough to call your anti-virus people and didn't do anything. Also beware this last week I received an e-mail saying it was from UPS and they couldn't deliver a package and I needed to download an attatched file and fill out the info. so it could be delivered as the address they had was insufficient. I called UPS and they said there is a scam going around being sent to e-mails and that they UPS never send out e-mails with attatchments. Basicly don't open anything suspicious without contacting the company first or someone who can help you ...
Glad all turned out well ...
Blessings ..Sara
that stinks, Sweet Pea. My earthlink is super vigilant...I am always getting quarantined emails alledgely from DHL and Facebook. I also know of a greeting card email that downloads a virus if you open it...even if it is from someone you know...don't do it!
have a great Friday. ox
Shelley, hope it all works out for you. Love the last line on your post HA! humhumhum... I will keep your advice in mind.
I wanted to tell you how I sooooo love your blog banner, it is so sweet with the (is it glitter?) heart and key, and the SP. You clever girl.
Have a better day,
Smiles,
Becky
Thanks so much for sharing this...how else would we know...unless we experience the same thing...I love to listen to my playlist...and I have had nice comments from others they like it as well..I know this is a hit and miss with many...that is why I keep it near the top so they can turn it off immediately. My thinking is that my blog is for me and what I put in there is to share...Having said that... this is scary and I'll be rethinking having the playlist up on my blog aswell. It is also scary to know it can happen on other sites.
I'd like to make a post linking to this post if that is okay with you.
Thanks for the great tips and warnings - some I hadn't heard of yet.
I don't mind silence on a blog because usually music or talking scares the you know what out of me! I just love to drool over the pictures!
We had the same thing happen to us at our home, my computer and my son's laptop. It was crazy and took forever to get it to stop. We had to re-boot our entire computer.
I too have had this happen when I googled something. I learned the HARD way and it is absolutely something I WON'T do again...
My computer was down for almost three months and I have since then installed an external hard drive...As it was crashing I had to try and save everything...Not Fun...
I just don't understand why people don't do something constructive with their time!!!
Anyway, My Best To You

Shelley,
That sucks (pardon the language) but it does. There are certainly good and bad things about the internet. BTW I'm in LOVE with your new counter, it' very cool! Lisa
PS Also love the new header!
Thanks everyone for your comments and concern. Yes please feel free to link to this post so as to warn other bloggers not to fall for this stuff. I agree that people need to do something else with their time.
Yes, Becky, it is white glitter. Thanks for your sweet comments.
Hugs,
Shelley
Hi Shelley,
I've been reluctant to load my playlist back since getting the new computer. I felt it slowed it down too. I believe awhile back the same thing happened to me. You do have to look out for bogus security programs. Good thing you checked first.

Carole
Oh my Shell, maybe this is what happened to my computer. I'm going to delete my play list right now. Thanks for info. and sorry you had this happen, T
