IN MEMORY OF CAYLEE

Caylee Marie Anthony

How did twelve jurors see this so differently than millions of the rest of us?

This baby is gone, in my opinion at the hands of her mother.

31 days, missing, and all the while the mother is out partying and getting a tattoo to celebrate her new life of freedom.

I cannot process this.

This unfolded less than 15 minutes from my home. I shop at the Target that Casey Anthony went on her illegal spending spree at.

My grandchildren have played at the playground that Caylee loved.

Don't get me wrong. This is in no way about me.

I'm just venting. Trying to get my head around this.

Don't think I ever will.

Rest in peace little Caylee. The world mourns you.

I am having a problem with this too. A sweet little girl was found with tape covering her mouth and nose, stuffed into a plastic bag and tossed into a swamp like garbage. Why isn't the public enraged over this? Someone disposed of this body ~ who and why??? I am enraged!!

I have followed the trial since day one. When the verdict came in I just sat there and cried. I called my husband and we tried to understand a jury that could not see the evidence that clearly proved she lost her life at the hands of her mother. I go to bed with a very heavy heart. The only peace we have is that she is in the arms of our Lord. Thank you for remembering little Caylee.

I know sweet girl, it's absolutely unbelievably horrific!! But I truly believe that justice WILL be served ~ maybe not by this jury but from the good Lord above. I'm sure He's cradling her in His arms right now.....

It is a travesty. I would like to know what they call not reporting your child missing for 31 days. A vacation?? Unreal. Caylee rests in the arms of God. Someday Casey will face that same God. We have seen this in our local news for 3 years and we just want justice and closure - looks like we didn't get it. So sad.

I so agree with you, this just made me sick!!!! I think we new a new justice system.

I too, was completely bowled over when I heard the verdict. She has so much blood on her hands IMO and it's mind boggling that not one of the jurors saw it that way!

RIP little Caylee...

Thank you so much for your post about Caylee. I, too,am in Central Florida...not as close as you...but I have spent the last 12 hours in absolute and utter disbelief that the jury found that woman not guilty! That sweet child died...at someone's hands...and now the case has also died...at the jury's hands. Someone knows the truth and someone is guilty...justice is blind...as well as deaf and ignorant. Casey Anthony got away with murder...plain & simple. *e*

I am appalled and angry that those jurors reched that verdict. I hope Ms. Anthony does not have another child. Sad fact is she will probably get rich from all this and be able to live her party girl life. Our system sometimes doesn't work.

Remember what happened to OJ? I pray that she too will get her 'just deserves' even if down the road a bit on another crime.

I am so glad you posted about this. Afterall, this has been one of the biggest headlines of the week so far! I have been following this trial and was just SO sure that she would be found guilty. I am just as surprised as everyone else on this. I was shocked to hear an alternate juror speak to the media about how they actually believed it was an accident! Amazing! I heard Dr. Drew (on HLN) say that if she really is a murderer she'll slip up and do something wrong again (just like OJ did) and she will get punished for it. He said they always slip up again. This is probably not the last we've heard from her.

I also live in Orlando and I just could not believe when I heard the verdict yesterday.
All she is getting is a misdemeanor?
Please!!!
I agree with Lisa someday she will have to face the same God and Caylee.
No justice for sweet Caylee.

It is sad beyond words...I am not over it either.

I agree and hope they didn't allow someone free to committ another serious crime. Such a loss of a sweet little girl.

Thanks for voicing your opinion Shelley even though some may not agree:-)

Take care,

As if it wasn't sick enough now I hear she is being offer millions for a movie deal. It's almost as disgusting as an lawyer celebrating last night. A little girl was murdered where's the respect to the true victim?
I agree she's a train wreck. I hope she doesn't hurt another innocent victim when she crashes.

... Yes, the story is very sad. Fortunately for us, the justice system in the U.S. requires that evidence be present in order to convict. She's a bad mother no doubt, but there is no evidence that would convict her of causing the death. It seems like a logical conclusion, but without evidence, we don't lock people up or kill them .. thank God

Like Erin said, a shocking verdict for sure.

Just a reminder for all of us to remember that if no one will BUY a book , or PAY admission, and make it publicly KNOWN that we won't maybe no one will offer it to her.
Perhaps someone could make a button that we can all put on our blogs that we won't support such efforts?

It seriously feels like a punch in the stomach, so terrible...

Vagabonds Mercantile said...

The public will punish her. My best guess is the people will either drive her to suicide or someone will kill her.

Callie Magee Antiques said...

I agree totally. The whole country knew she was guilty, what were the members of this jury doing while all this horrible evidence was being presented? It was a bad verdict and no wonder the jury refused interviews following the decision. I hope they are ashamed of what they did. They played right along with her. She wanted to be free of Caylee and now she is with no penalties. Sad day.

Verdicts like this one don't make sense. Caylee's mother may not have been convicted but will have to live with what she did every day for the rest of her life. And she will have to face the public, knowing that they feel she is guilty. She will always be known for this and that will not be easy.

Rita said...

Totally agree with Vintage Green's suggestion: Do not buy any book written by, see any movie based on, or watch any interview with Ms. Anthony, AND, in addition, let the publishers, producers, and networks, as well as the commercial sponsors know why you aren't doing so! Being found "not guilty" does not mean one is innocent of a crime.

romance-of-roses said...

We have also followed the trial from the first day and certainly were not expecting this. Everyone knows she killed her but the jury said that the prosecution didn't have enough evidence and they too felt she was guilty. Sad, sad day. We certainly will not buy her book or anything else she has anything to do with.

I agree with Rita about not letting her make money off her baby girl's death.
Thank you for posting about this, I think everyone needs to vent...I just can't wrap my head around it.
Has anyone asked her why she let her stay in that swamp while she was partying and having fun?
Maybe her being set free will be worse than being in prison protected from the public.
There isn't anywhere she could go without people knowing who she is.

Hi Shel. I have been trying to deal with this also. My only consolation is to leave it up to the Lord. HE has a plan. I love the new law they are trying to put in place regarding reporting a child missing. The new law would mean that it is a felony to wait to report the child missing. Too bad it wasn't in place this time...

Ironstone and Pine said...

Unbelievable isn't it....and yesterday I heard that one of the jurors said they found her not guilty but that doesn't mean she's innocent.......HELLO??!! what's the difference? I am beside myself about this whole decision, only one other high profile case has ever made me feel this sick, can you guess?

Unknown said...

It is difficult to believe that the jurors could not see that the circumstantial evidence was enough to convict this woman of killing her child. I think that the TV shows like the CSI series, have made people have higher expectations of evidence than is realistic. The truth is, that physical evidence was skimpy, mainly because the level of decomposition. Casey knew what she was doing leaving her in that swamp. It is inconceivable...she will definitely slip up again. She is a sociopath and a narcissist and three years in jail has not changed her a bit. Just wait.

Denise @ The Rusty Gate said...

It was a sad day indeed. Each of us deserves by law a judgment by our peers. I believe in our system, but I can't understand how a little girl can go missing and her own mother can go out partying like nothing is wrong and these 12 jurors not think that Casey doesn't have something to do with it. As the last prosecutor said in her final statement, who is the only one to benefit by Caylee being gone? I was upset that Casey showed up at the sentencing with her hair down, smiling, and carrying on. Does she have something to celebrate? Her daughter is dead. She has absolutely no remorse...she has no feelings. Her day will come. I hope she lives each and every day in fear of her own life.

After watching the trial, the jury reach the only conclusion they could have. We do NOT convict people in this country on "gut instincts" or "beliefs" or "suspicison." We convinct on EVIDENCE. Unfortunately, the evidence presented did not prove BEYOND a reasonable doubt that Casey Anthony murdered her daughter.

Don't be upset with the jurors, be upset with the prosecution. The burden of proving Casey guilty was squarely on them. The defense simply had to raise reasonable doubt. And they did...very effectively.

Someone murdered sweet Caylee and I am comforted in the fact that they will...someday...have to pay for their sin.

Lauri Evans said...

You are so right Shelley. And it is inconvieveable to call her a mother because she is NOT. And I hate all these bleeding hearts that claim their was no evidence that she did it. Are they STUPID? or did they not watch the trial?

Hi there~
i love your blog and haven't ever commented or written. I live in Havana (18 miles north of Tallahassee) and i hope you don't consider this spam, but i thought y'all would like to see the legislation that is being proposed in Florida legislature, entitled "Caylee's law"--PLEASE contact your legislators and voice your support of it. Basically it makes it against the law to NOT report your child missing after so many hours, and goes on to cover reporting death as well:

A total miscarriage of justice, I am so disappointed that 12 people could not see that Casey (she doesn't deserve to be called mom or mother) killed this innocent little girl. Praying for peace for that precious girl and those who loved her!!!

Shelley,
I'm catching up on your blog tonight & even tho no one will see my comment I am compelled to make it anyway. You are SO right my friend. I will never understand how the jury could let that monster walk free. Two words alone should have locked her up for life. Duct tape. I signed the petition you posted also.
