This show was our third, and I am always in awe of the talented pool of women (and men) that we swim in. But this time, I felt especially drawn to the magical theme that Judy Hill had cast in her booth. I really felt she had done her best work that I have seen, and while there are others whom I will pay tribute to in this series, Judy got my vote for my fav booth at Marburger. You go Judy!

Party Girls
When in Texas, we attend some fabulous parties like the open house at Leftover's. They spare no expense on food and drink and the shop itself can only really be experienced in person.
Here are the girls (minus TOT~where were you?):Gwen (French by Design),Deb (Curious Sofa), Linda (Willow Nest), me, Carol (Raised In Cotton), and Teresa (Gardens Antqs Vintage).
Next came the blog party at Garden Antqs Vintage. The highlights of the party were the book signing with Sue from Junk Market and meeting Elizabeth Maxon from Elizabeth House in St. Louis.
Teresa (our lovely hostess), Mindy (Primitiques n Poetry), me, Elizabeth (Elizabeth House), and TOT (Time Worn Interiors). Thanks for a fab party Teresa~~you rock!

Hey Calvin!
Okay so here is a blog solely dedicated to one of my (and Mr. Sweet Pea's) favorite people at Marburger~~Calvin! Calvin is from Tennessee and does the Marburger show just down the way from us in tent H. He partners with his wife Carla and their son-in-law David. Hey Carla and David! They always have awesome stuff like old store counters and super long harvest tables just to name a few. We hope they will return in the fall cause it won't be the same without them! In his spare time, Calvin LOVES to read blogs and I have suggested that he get one of his own. I think it could be called "A Day In The Life Of Calvin". What do you think? So anyway, here's a pic of Calvin in his booth. Sorry ladies he's taken.
I had a picture of Carla but do to a death threat she made against me if I posted it, she'll just have to remain a mystery...

Marburger Show Spring 2009
So, the spring show is behind us now. Seems like it went by so quickly, maybe too quickly. It was so awesome to see all our friends and commrades in the antique world and to meet some new ones. Thanks to all the bloggers who stopped by and said hello! The weather was not our friend though, and made some of the days a challenge. Especially the day we fought to keep our booths intact during 40 mile an hour winds! Luckily we did not suffer any losses but many did. There is nothing worse than hearing other dealer's inventory crashing to the ground around you and wondering if yours will be next. At times it felt as though the tent would take flight with all my treasures attached to it!
I felt this was my best offering to date, and though most were very careful with their money the trailer was a little lighter going home. Mr. Sweet Pea was especially proud of his industrial metal dresser that he painstakingly stripped to the bare metal. It turned out just as I pictured it would and it went to a good home. What was selling? Small items, mirrors and some smaller pieces of furniture. The big stuff not so much. But in these times I am grateful for the support of our customers at any level. And besides, we always have a great time as well! Here are pics of my booth~~please enjoy! More pics to follow of the talented dealers I call my friends...

There's No Place Like Home
So just a quick post to let you know the Pea's have returned home safely. We would have normally been home last week, but a job-related matter diverted us to Oklahoma City for a few days. So almost 4000 miles later, we are back in our little slice of heaven on earth. And what did we do first? Hug those babies!!!!! I couldn't wait to see them and put in an urgent call to both our sons to PLEASE bring them over last night!!! After hugs and kisses and pizza, we were as content as we could be.
Please stay tuned for many more posts about the trip and of course lots of pics!!! There is a special one coming about an awesome dude who sells at Marburger just down the way from us (hey Calvin!) so please check back often.
Hugs,
Shelley

Birth Of A Boothlet
So the one~year anniversary of my shop closing is fast approaching, and I've been feeling a little off the beam so to speak lately. I realized that I needed and missed the design/decorating fix that I got on a regular basis when I had the shop, and at the persistent urging of a friend and fellow antique dealer I took a booth in a well~established shop in Maitland FL. Halley's has been around forever, as have the dealers there and it's rare to get a chance at a booth. And so my teeny, diminutive, petite booth is born~~hereafter referred to lovingly as my little boothlet as it is a mere 5X5 in size. Never fear for I am the master of small spaces and can always make it work. Mr. Sweet Pea is always skeptical, and will stand shaking his head and say,"You'll never get all that in there". And lo and behold I always do. I love small spaces. They're cozy and intimate. They require thought and the ability to know when enough is enough. And it's mine~~all mine...
