MY BOOTH AT MARBURGER FALL 2011

This is a tough post.

Do I sound upbeat and say it was a great show? Do I tell the truth and say it was just okay?

 I vote for the truth...

It was just okay.

The heat was brutal. The buyers were few and far between.
We still had a great time in spite of the bottom line...

Rachel Ashwell bought this primitive white chippy piece.

it is so refreshing to hear the truth.
I always wonder how everyone sold out of everything, lol
and with the way the weather was I am sure people opted for air condition over junkin'
Glad to hear you have a positive twist on things.

So sorry you didn't have the best show and am really surprised with all your awesome items. We've all had shows that we wish would have been better.

Did you sell that cupola??? It's so wonderful along with everything and your displays always inspire me Shelley:-)

How did I miss your booth. I love the shows but not this year. Like you mentioned the heat was brutal which kept me home more than out in the fields.
Living only 14 miles away I go everyday but not this time.
Most vendors I talked to barely covered their booth expense.
Sad because of the expense and trouble everyone goes through to put their collections together.
This show was the first time in 30 years I actually had several vendors that were rude and I have never experienced that before.
Good luck in the spring hopefully I will find you then
Maggie

thank you maggie, i know way more dealers who had a bad show and didn't or barely made their cost for the show than the ones who say they had a great show. we were in the middle. hope to see you in the spring.

I really "felt" for you guys! I heard all the way out here is SoCal from my dealers about the heat! On the flip side of that, I TOTALLY love the displays. They are over the top awesome!

Take care, Sue

Oh I wish it would have been better for you Shelley. I know how hard you work and how far you have to travel so this is not what I was hoping for you. Your booth is beautiful as always. I love that birdcage...and so many other things.
I've been thinking about you and hoping that all went well and that you arrived home safely.
hugs from here...

Shelley your booth looks awesome, I love it all.
Do you still have the awning, it is amazing.
Sorry to hear sales were down, it is so hard and so much work.
Farm Chicks was like that for me...
Hope your next show makes up for this one...

Oh, Shelley, it looks awesome, so I'm sorry to hear it didn't go as well as usual. I'm wondering if the wildfires kept long-distance people away?

It's important to keep it real, so we all appreciate your honesty, but please know that your booth looks GREAT, so that wasn't the issue.

Can't wait to see you in the spring (or maybe Christmas??)!

Everything is so beautiful, I know I would have found a treasure to take home, too bad I live so far away. TTFN

My husband and I have been going to the spring and fall shows for a number of years now but have finally realized that the typical heat during the fall show is just unbearable. I must confess we skipped it this time but will attend in the spring. I spoke to a number of other regulars who also said they were skipping this one for the same reason. I know mountains are impossible to move but I sure wish the fall shows could be pushed back a few weeks!
From your photos it is plain to see you had another "wow" booth! Chin up and I'm sure there will be better crowds next spring!

Your booth looks amazing!! Clearly you would have been cleaned out if the economy was better. That's so much work and expense, I'm sorry to hear things were so slow. Thank you for your honesty. Sometimes I wonder if it's just worse here. I live in NE Ohio we're used to slow times.

I love the awning, I've got one here just waiting to be hung over the bed.

One day I'll make it to Marburger to see your beautiful space!

All my best to you! ~Brooke

Well, your Booth was beyond amazing but it's refreshing to hear the Truth... I had heard similar observations from those I know who attended... both as Buyers and as Sellers. With the economy such that it still is folks are being careful about their purchases & needing deals more than ever for their bottom line... so it is tough for those making a living at Retail levels. I can see all the hard work you put into your Styling and product selection, can't even imagine you doing it in the brutal heat and humidity I had heard was absolutely miserable. {And this was coming from Arizona Desert Gals who can take intense heat! Winks} I Hope it was at least all worthwhile for your time and efforts... because certainly we're enjoying the visuals you're sharing as you take us along virtually here in the Land Of Blog. And I'm sure anyone who got to see all of this in person was amazed, inspired and creatively jazzed by the bounty of eye candy so Beautifully displayed.

Blessings from the Arizona Desert... Dawn... The Bohemian
