DO COME IN...

I bet you thought the day would never come... Finally the reveal of the interior of the GARDEN COTTAGE. Let me give you a brief history of how the GARDEN COTTAGE came to be...

I had saved pieces and parts over the years of being in the antiques biz. You know porch posts here, a zinc dormer there, pieces of tin ceiling tile, architectural fabulosities. A lot of them were used as decor in my shop which I closed in 2008, and I saved all of them without any real plan. Until... I got the inspiration for a GARDEN COTTAGE that I could have home sales in. So I used the COTTAGE as a mini shop and sometimes just as storage. What a waste... After last fall I had decided to end the home sales and thought that it was too darn awesome to use as storage. So I set my sites on bringing it to be as a little place that I can sit in and enjoy just for me. The ceiling is all hand~pieced rusty crusty tin ceiling tiles, and the floor is hand~painted by moi to look like stone.

I hope you love it...

It is the sweetest thing!
What an amazing spot to go out to just to be by yourself, or have the girls over to chat.
I think it would be great to go out and read a book or crochet.
Wow just so well put together and your collections over the years shine.
thanks for sharing

Hi Shelley,
Will you be moving out of the main house to live in the little cottage always? ;o) It's so sweet!
Thanks for the sweet words about my booth. It is such a fun show - you and Mr Sweetpea should come. I really don't think we could get much further away though!

Speechless......cottage envy.
I can't remember if you mentioned how big it is.

I am having a little house built for my daycare kids.

No windows or door though.....a door would create to much conflict.....they would close it on each other`LOL

Enjoy your lovely get~away

Okay, I'm speechless, and that's saying alot for me because I never shutup. It's settled...I'm making my husband built my potting shed this summer, no exceptions!

I too have saved things for years for this dream of mine. We have drawn up some rough plans and the shape is very similar to yours with the overhang for a front porch area. He doesn't think I needthat, bit I disagree especially after seeing yours.

You've lit a fire under me....wish my husband luck!

Thanks so much for sharing these wonderful phoptos with us Shelley.

Take care and enjoy your beautiful area.

It looks like something right out of the pages of Country Living magazine. What a beautiful and peaceful little getaway. If I lived near you, I'd call and ask if it was okay to bring the Scrabble game over and have tea with you.

WOW, I am very impressed. I guess many of us do that, the collecting for years of odd things to use someday in a dream space such as yours. I know I do.
I am not sure if you need any heat in your little house in Fl. but if you do I can suggest something I used to make my antique mantle appear more like a real fireplace and give off actual heat on those cool days:
Home Depot has an electric stove fireplace that has a flame and actually puts out heat which goes well in a fireplace scene. Cost less than 300. I did that here at my store in this old 1880 building. Customers love standing next to it on cooler days.
You did a fantastic job in making that little cottage your special place to escape.
