YOU SERVED US WELL...

Crazy as it may sound, we are finally retiring our couch...

Why crazy?

Well, we've had this couch for about twenty one years...

Yep, we've had the same couch for that long. Multiple slip~covers over the years of course...

I've been holding out for my dream couch...

A Pottery Barn slip~covered couch in white twill.

Meet my new couch.

Of course, it inspired a zhush of the room... The chairs now cozy up to the fireplace...

I like the angle of the couch I think. It makes the room less of a bowling alley if you will.

Now I've got my eye on those chairs...

  4. Love the new couch! Love the movement of the room. Do you get many comments? If not, I think it might be because your word verification is on and it's such a pain. This will be my last comment if that's the case.

  7. What a beautiful light filled comfy looking room. Want to plop down, read a book for hours. Sorry I didn't wait for an invitation first.
I'd be happy with an IKEA couch but we don't live near an IKEA, doggone it. Your new sofa was long awaited and I imagine well deserved. Not like you rushed out when you got tired of old one.
We had a really nice Broyhill sofa sleeper that was disposed of while I was gone on a trip and I was not one bit happy when I got home. It was getting a little threadbare in couple spots but still a very good couch, much slipcoverable. Why daughter and hubs got rid of it I don't know but the dastardly deed was done and couldn't get my couch back.
Was told I'd get new couch but all I got was a left over I hated. Still have it. Sure it was free but I loved my broyhill. Someday I'll buy myself a new couch. So there. Enjoy your new Pottery Barn couch.

  9. Hi Shelley,
I am so jealous of your rockin sofa. Unlike you I've been thru about 5 couches in the last few years. Everytime I passed up the sweet PB in favor of a cheaper one. The last time was an Ikea knock off. They always end up at my garage sales. I'm starting a new couch fund today so I can copy my style guru & get the real deal~

  16. So beautiful Shelley! We are sorely in need of new furniture for our family room. We always have our adult kids and spouses over, so it gets soooo used!

Would love to have white, but with all of our pets, grandies, and company, it probably wouldn't be the best idea. I will have plenty of shades of white in my new studio, though! Can't wait to get it done!

    Have a wonderful week!
    Blessings,
    Becky

I like your sofa! In fact I love the entire room. The stone fireplace is very attractive. I really like how the chairs soften the look in front of it. Are your walls painted gold? The contrast with the with the trim is so fresh.
