BLOGGING FOR DUMMIES

HAS ANYONE ELSE DONE THIS OR AM I THE LONE DUMMY?

Thinking I was cleaning up the "inbox" for comments, as I am completely anal about, I started deleting comments left by all of you in the comments section on my dashboard. Little did I know I was deleting the actual comments on actual posts!!!

Can you begin to know how stupid I feel?

Is there any way to retrieve them?

So if you see that previous posts have ZERO comments this is why. I am so sorry to have deleted your precious comments.

If you feel so inclined to go back to older posts and leave another comment I would be ever so grateful...

GOOD GRIEF CHARLIE BROWN!

  1. I don't know the answer to the dilemma, but I do know we have all done something at one time or another in this crazy world of technology.

I bet you get the perfect solution in one of your comments.
    Hang in there!

But I have done much worse!
Some of my mistakes were not repairable!
I too am sure there is someone out there who can help you recover this!
    Hugs my friend!

  4. I have done it too, early in the morning with sleepy eyes unfocused hit delete instead of publish.
blogger just updated the delete part and asks you now are you sure?
    Before it just would disappear.

  5. I am so with you, I have no idea how to do this blogging thing, I don't even know what I'm doing here, I don't feel up to standards with the rest of you lovely people, but I thought I would give it a shot and learn along the way....wish me luck lol =) Xoxoxo

  6. Apparently it's possible to recover deleted comments if you moderate comments via email, providing you have kept the original email that is - a slim chance I know. Fingers crossed. Louise

  12. FUNNY YOU SHOULD SAY THAT AS I HAVE BEEN WANTING TO GO BACK TO MY EARLY DAYS OF BLOGGING AND DELEATE SOME OF MY SILLY POSTS! (WHEN NO ONE COMMENTED ON THEM ANYWAY) I EVEN WENT TO BORDERS TO FIND OUT IF THEY HAD A BOOK CALLED "BLOGGING FOR DUMMIES". DO YOU KNOW IF THERE IS SUCH A BOOK?

  13. For Tapestries, there are Dummy books for blogging. And it should be very simple to delete your posts via your dashboard.

For Shelley, I guess it's a moderation thing. I delete the copies of comments that show up in my email, but rarely, if ever, delete comments from the blog, or via Typepad (my platform). Can you search the blogger platform? Perhaps they have some master backup on their servers that can salvage them?

Lesson learned, huh? I hate learning these things the hard way....

  14. In another life I was all about programming and software, I was determined to be self reliant in my finance and marketing positions, for example no one could tell me "that report can't be produced", I knew better. Can I just say that my first website was deleted, by me? Never to be seen again! I feel your pain, and know that we love your site and all that you share with us!

  15. Shel, I wish I could help, but I can barely figure out how to leave a comment much less retrieve them!
There just has to be a way. Try googling your question and see if you can find help that way. I know there are several sites that answer questions like The Cutest Blog on the Block and Moms That Blog. Maybe they could help. Sorry girl...that's all I got!
