ON A LIGHTER NOTE...

First and foremost, THANK YOU SO MUCH for your thoughts and prayers for my Mom and for me after my near miss. I have learned a HUGE lesson that will not need repeating. One of the gifts of age I guess...

On to lighter things. I have had my eye on these bookshelves that Mr. Sweet Pea built for me ions ago. I zhush them every once in awhile and twirl the collections they hold into new configurations. I wanted a lighter, more nature~inspired look to them. I've had a collection of fabulous old herbariums for ages now, but how to display them? Framed? I've seen them mounted directly to the wall with pins. What to do?

I thought they would be lovely with my brown transferware and my bird nests and wasp nests.

The before...

The after...

  27. Can you spell GORGEOUS boys and girls? Love, love love! Why is it that wasps are so scarey but wasp's nests are so amazingly cool?

  28. Shelley,
STUNNING! I love it so much. I have searched for an herbarium for ages, but they are always still too expensive. I did score a stationary box filled with vintage pressed botanical. I want to do something cool with them. Can't decide if I want to put stained muslin behind them & sandwich them in glass or just simply tape to a yellowed piece of paper. Either way, their just so beautiful. Your taste is perfection to me girl. Lisa

  31. I love the way the botanicals look on your shelves Shelley. I have 4 old herbariums...one is a family treasure...the others I bought to decorate and craft with...although I have been hesitant to do so. I did buy 6 whitewashed frames though so I plan on working on that this spring! Thanks for reminding me! :)
